Discover some of the rarest mounts in all of Azeroth.
Judging by the epic price that the Saltwater Snapjaw epic card is fetching on ebay, World of Warcraft players are clearly looking for any opportunity to help their characters stand out in a crowd. With the delayed release of The Burning Crusade, and the associated flying mounts, it would seem that the Saltwater Snapjaw is the only current way for players to get a special mount. There are, however, several rare mounts already in World of Warcraft that lucky players can hope to lay their hands on.
The Deathcharger
Baron Rivendare is a death knight who leads the Scourge forces in Stratholme. Until he was killed by operatives of the Argent Dawn, he was a co-conspirator of the Lich King and a nobleman of Lordaeron. If you are just looking to get yourself a mount that few others in the game have, however, all you need to know is that he has a chance to drop a very rare mount, the Deathcharger. The great thing, especially for Alliance players, is that the mount looks very much like an epic undead mount, guaranteeing you'll get lots of onlookers every time you enter Ironforge. The unfortunate thing, however, is that this mount has a 0.01% drop rate, making it extremely rare. If you manage to get your hands on the Deathcharger, you'll certainly stand out from your fellow adventurers.
Swift Zulian Tiger
The High Priest of the Primal God Shirvallah, the Tiger God, is a viscous troll named Thekal. He, along with the rest of the High Priests in ZulGurub, waits to challenge even the most hardened Azerothian adventurer. Thekal and his cohorts have fallen under the power of the final boss of ZulGurub, the Blood God Hakkar, and players must defeat each High Priest if they hope to destroy Hakkar. The high priests are more than simple men of faith though, as each High Priest serves as a champion of the Primal Gods, each representing a powerful animal figure. As the servant of Shirvallah, the Tiger God, it is fitting that Thekal is aided by two tigers and, after dying, will respawn as a tiger himself. For those searching for rare mounts, it is also fitting that the High Priest of the tiger God has a chance to drop a Swift Zulian Tiger. This epic mount, with a drop rate of around 0.5%, has a distinctive hide and armor pattern that make him highly unique, and just as highly desired.
Swift Razzashi Raptor
Bloodlord Mandokir is the leader of the Gurubashi troll tribe located primarily in ZulGurub. It is believed that the Soulflayer is alive deep within the ruins of ZulGurub, fueled by the channeled power of the Gods of the five High Priests. The Gurubashi tribe, under the direction of Bloodlord Mandokir, believes that if they provide loyal service to the Soulflayer, they will be rewarded with the restoration of the empire. While Bloodlord Mandokir is not one of the five High Priests championing a Primal God, his association with Raptors has given way to his nickname, The Raptor Boss. In addition to raptor mobs, he rides an extremely fast and dangerous raptor mount that will attack and often destroy entire raids. This raptor, however, has a 0.2% chance of dropping off of Mandokir after the fight, making the fight well worth the risk for a chance at an extremely prized raptor and one that is certain to make any player stand out.
